Chapter 8 – Data analysis

All the content relating to the chapter above is below

Objectives

To highlight and explore fundamental issues, important broader considerations (with respect to quantitative and qualitative forms of data analysis), and the emerging area of visual research.

Key Points

Data analysis is a complex process, regardless of whether we are utilising quantitative or qualitative research approaches or some combination of both. We can distinguish between different forms of both quantitative and qualitative analysis, and it is important that we are able make informed decisions about what is appropriate to our own research questions, strategies and approaches. While it is beyond the scope of this book and chapter to explore all the intricacies to be considered when planning your data analysis, we can highlight some of the fundamentals.
